Credential Engine is working to expand its searchable database of U.S. credentials with a little help from companies and organizations interested in education data, the nonprofit organization announced yesterday.
Ellucian, Credly, BrightHive, DXtera, Powerminds and Credential Commons have all agreed to partner with Credential Engine to help add new credentials to its growing national directory of degrees, as well as diplomas, digital badges, certificates and other nondegree credentials.
Scott Cheney, executive director of Credential Engine, said that more organizations will soon be joining the partnership, dubbed the Credential Transparency Partner Program. Credential Engine is already working with many states, universities and employers to gather credential data.
“By making data searchable and comparable through a common language, we will bring data transparency not only to credential providers, but also to the students, counselors, employers and other users who need clear data to make critical education and career decisions,” Cheney said in a press release.
